One of the least discussed subjects in the talkative culture of America is its shameful and buried history of slavery. Even with the social and family ties that intimately connect black and white America, the true relationship remains surprisingly unexplored and unacknowledged resulting in a racial divide. David Wilson, a 28-year-old African-American journalist, journeys into his family's past to find answers to America's racial disparities. Along the way he meets another David Wilson, the descendant of his family's slave master.
This discovery leads to a momentous encounter between these two men of the same name but whose ancestors were on the opposite sides of freedom. David's journey takes him from his humble beginnings in the projects of Newark, New Jersey to the dismal living quarters and cemetary of his enslaved ancestors and the plantation where they toiled. Finally through DNA testing, David determines his African roots and returns to his native land.
